Rewatched Sex and The City (the movie) again...how many times is it now? Everytime it ends, i feel a pang of sadness, as if i just lost a good friend. The HBO version stood by me in my times of darkness and i'm reminded of just how blessed it is to have good friends around.

Good friends who painted my small one room apartment together when i first decided to start a new life with Shane. Good friend who, despite being midnite at that time, came all the way from one end of Singapore to the other end just so she can take me and Shane away. She even got her hubby to activate his friends to drive their cars to where i was staying before coz yours truly had luggages big and small and one car was not enough. Or good friend who didn't mind massaging my oily head when i had a real bad headache but couldn't take panadols coz i was pregnant with Shane. You may think it's nothing, but my dear readers, we were at Burger King then and it was packed with watchful people!

I miss my friends, although some are still near me, but there are a few who are so far away from me now. At one part of the movie, the part where this song was played - the new year's eve nite where Carrie got out of bed, braved the cold and went to Miranda's apartment. Remember that scene?

One should never be alone on new year's eve. It's a taboo. A big no no! Which was why i started my own tradition when Shane was born, that is, we will always spend the last day of the year and the beginning of the new one together. And i hope this tradition will last as long as i live.

Watching Shane make silly faces, singing silly songs, saying silly things to make me laugh, slow dancing with me, these were some of the best moments of my life. And not forgetting his constant request to marry me. Really, how sweet can that be? Do you guys say that to your mommy too when you were young? Nah, you probably can't remember.

Come Thursday, Shane is officially seven. Growing up without a constant father figure proved to be some struggles for Shane at times. I remember something he told me when we were waiting to take the cable car ride in Seaworld, Brisbane. Shane saw another family where the father was carrying a little boy hugging a teddy bear and he said to me, "Mommy, if only i have a papa here with us, then he can protect us on the cable car. But i don't have." That moment, my eyes gave way to two large tears.

I have always done my very best for him and i'm glad to be still doing the same. Although ex-man was never there for us, but it never once brought us to despair. Instead, it fused both me and Shane so tightly together that we almost become one. And that itself gives me strength to continue till now. I can never forget how his innocent eyes used to tear when i told him i'm getting old. To him, being old equates to dying. He wants me to be always with him and i have to reassure him i will always be with him as long as he wants me to. And should i return to God far earlier than expected, i will be his special angel and always be there to protect him.

I live for the moment, i care nought for tomorrow or yesterday and i know all the beautiful moments will come to an end. When my baby bird's wings are strong enough and ready to fly away from our cosy nest, all these bittersweet memories will then be my companion in my journey to the end. It's inevitable. It will happen one day and i hate to think of that.

My Shane is the star of my life. He has many talents that i'm pretty proud of. He's smart in his little way and he can remember the most amazing things i said, which sometimes can be rather embarrasing.

As for me, getting emotional is my number one talent. Now let me go dry my tears.

I was clearing out the memory stick on my phone. Didn't know i have so many pics in there. So here are a couple to start your weekend!

The best Lychee Martini in Town? Only at Harry's Bar. It taste sweeter and the alcohol content is just right.

1DSC05571
I only drink warm water actually, unless it's Lychee Martini :)

1DSC05550
My new BB Bold came in a cool jet black box. Even its battery is fully jet black too. Smart!

1DSC05555
It also came with a leather slip-in pouch.

1DSC05476
I know what love is, do you?

1DSC05474
Not sure why i took this.

My kiddo loves Japanese food, especially Agedashi tofu.

1DSC05465
Look at his face... Haha.. he's just so adorable.

Btw, i have a party coming up next month:

1DSC03842

We received no black, handcrafted with silver calligraphy invite but a one for all big notice stuck on the wall. There is no need to blindfold us too coz the venue was stated there for all to see. We have to come dressed as Fairytales character. Do you think there'll be security dressed up as centaurs or chauffeurs dressed up as Hermes?

Guess what i'll be wearing? Nay, i will not come dressed as Maenad, for why would i choose to be some wild, insane women who could not be reasoned with and who indulged in copious amounts of violence, bloodletting, sexual activity, self-intoxication, and mutilation.

I prefer my costume to be fun and i found two nice outfits from Secret Costumes. But what will i come as?

11234
Will i be Sexy Card ? (from Alice in Wonderland)

cuddlylion
or will i be Cuddly Lion? (from Wizard of Oz)

Naturally, i will let you know after the party of course :)

Btw, I don't like the new facebook. Do you like it? I prefer the old layout where you can "see all at one go". Now, i have to click on the many different tabs in order to see what other interesting stuffs my friends are up to. So cumbersome!!!

And, Champion is finally on Facebook too!! How exciting for him. However, teaching him to use it is like teaching a chicken how to fly. Stressful. Haha.. but he's a smart cookie, and i'm a good teacher, so he definitely will do well in FB.

* * *

Janice: My online shop is launching soon, i'm excited about it too :)

Daisy: The one at Carrefour can only make plain popcorn. I like my popcorn slightly sweet. It's not very big too. Remember, i may want to sell popcorn next time.. haha

Shufang: Meee too!! i love GV's popcorn and actually i never think i will fall in love with this easy-to-get-fat snack.

DDOS: Thank you...

Via: Thanks but i don't do link exchange. if i really like a site, i will add them to 'Blogs i Read' on the sidebar. Sorry but hope you understand :) Btw your site has a lot of food pics and they looked so delicious. It's making me hungry now and that's not good coz i'm suppose to be on a diet!

Terrence: Hope this weekend will be a great one for you.

Jason: Thank you!

Workingholic: Are you back in Singapore?? and i thot that should be spelt as "kam siah"? But gumxia definitely sounds more like the hokkien 'thank you' as compared to cumcia, that sounds quite rude right?? haha

Kat: I went to Robinson but couldn't find. Shall try Tangs this weekend. Hmmmm why didn't i think of Tangs?? Thanks for reminding!

BLT: Babe, go get BB Bold. You won't regret it!!!

Huh???

Friday, 3 October 2008

Becks was asking me something on email today. I thought i had replied him when i saw my reply was still sitting in my draft folder. Immediately i clicked 'sent' and that was already three hours after receiving his email. Then another three hours later, he replied. Just one word.

Cumcia

Shoot, was he mad at me for replying him three hours late? It was only three hours, not three days. And that must be a new rude word he learnt in his motherland. Goodness, London must be getting too colorful for him.

I was about to ask him back rudely what the hell was he supposed to mean by that when i paused and thought, could it be 'Thank You' in the hokkien dialect?

Haha, that was it, in view of his coming back next month for a few days, Becks was practising his dialect! And yes, that was his hokkien version of 'Thank You'. Spelt like that. Cumcia.

I felt so silly then. Thank God i didn't reply anything rude in retaliation. I have quite a temper too you know.

Well, since i'm on the topic of Becks, let me show you some pics from his latest adventure, that lucky brat. This time, he wandered off to nomadic Mongolia.

All pictures shown here are stolen from his facebook, courtesy of his other mates. His Royal Highness is not known to carry any form of photography equipment with him, except maybe his camera phone but that could have been dropped ten thousand times while flipping cartwheels front-to-back and back-to-front in clubs. Not a very reliable camera i tell you :)

Anyway, here you go:

Don't you think this could pass off as a CD album cover for some rock band?

Becks is still single, very available and driving a Porsche, so if you would like to add youself to his already growing female fans base, please drop me an email. I will see what i can do.

There is certainly no need to 'cumcia' me.

Haha :)

Ps: All new fans must pass an audition conducted by Sister Scarlett... xxx

Addicted to Popcorn

Wednesday, 1 October 2008

I once said i don't enjoy eating popcorn unless i'm at the movies (see here). But this has since changed. I'm into eating popcorn now. It all started when Shane has his usual violin and drum classes on Saturday. There were free popcorns given by the management. Once Shane couldn't finish his pack and since i always preached to him not to waste food, i must set a good example. I finished the popcorn for him and now, i'm addicted to it. It's like new discovery for me. I can eat the whole pack by myself, not sharing one single bit with Shane. Sometimes i even nudged him to go get another one for me as it's actually for kids not for big buffaloes like me.

Last Saturday, after i finished my usual pack of popcorn, like a pregnant woman, i craved for more. So I went to the cinema and bought myself a regular size popcorn while Shane was in the music class. That regular size cost me $7! I find it ridiculous paying so much for popcorn and reckoned that i should buy my own popcorn making machine. So today, i'm going round town searching for one.

pm2

I'm going to get something like this.

If i can't get one from Singapore or Malaysia, i will consider buying from Neiman Marcus. I gather if i make one 'regular sized' pack a day, i would sort of 'recover' back what i paid for the machine (plus shipping) by my thirtieth home-made pack. Isn't it so? And if i get bored with my job, i will go sell popcorn. And if you happen to see me selling my popcorn, come get one free pack from me. i will also give you a free can of coke to go along with your popcorn. I know, i'm so generous :)

While i go searching for my popcorn machine, i leave you with this song- คิดถึงเธอทุกที (ที่อยู่คนเดียว) by Calories Blah Blah.

This is the other version of the same song i introduced few months back by Koh Mr. Saxman, featuring Jennifer Kim. I'm not sure which one i prefer most, i do like the jazzy lazy version by Mr. Saxman but i like this duet cover by Calories too.

Visit this link here to hear Mr. Saxman version and tell me which one you like.

Time Flies

Sunday, 28 September 2008

We are just two days away from October, three months away from 2009. There is no need to validate the statement anymore. It's scary, time indeed flies.

To all who asked, Shane is doing well in school. At least to me he is. His Chinese is also getting better and he definitely is good in this language than his mommy is. I am hopeless in this, and i faced huge problems whenever he needs to construct sentences in Chinese. Fortunately, there is internet. I found this online Chinese-English dictionary with pinyin. It works well for me!

These days, not only the children have to carry heavy loads to school, their school works don't come easy too. And parents have to play their part at home, helping to teach and explain to their kids. For example, on Shane's second week in school earlier this year, he brought home a mathematics work sheet. One question went like this:

There were ten eggs in the pictures marked from one to ten. The mother hen had lost her eggs. Her eggs were those that were marked more than three but less than eight. Can you help her find her eggs?

It certainly is not what it was for me long long ago.

A month back, for Shane's English assessment test, he had to do a show and tell on his favourite book character. He brought home the assessment notice on what he was required to do and there it was, the allocation of marks. To my surprise, marks were given for props too and they were not allowed to bring toys as props. So i decided to help.

Here was what i did:

1DSC03711

1DSC03732

1DSC03736

Yes, Shane was presenting his favourite book character "Wall.E". I know, very plain looking but it took me two days to go find the right materials, print the right font size and darn, the yellow raffia strings were so hard to find.

And btw, i'm excited about my online shop. Although some issues are driving me crazy and it is hard work but i like how the end results turn out to be. From the technical part to how the packaging should be, every single detail is carefully thought out. If you are interested to know, i'm only producing stuffs for the ladies for the moment. But guys, you can help do your part by spreading the word around, or buying it for your girlfriends, partners, wives, aunts, mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers...

The time to show you my site will come soon. But keep your expectations low alright, coz afterall, i'm still a beginner in this :)

Be Bold!!

Be very BOLD

Because the new Blackberry Bold is in town!!

bb-bold

I'm gonna get this baby tomorrow and i can't wait! I'm not sure what time Starhub will deliver it to me but i sure hope it's gonna be first thing in the morning!! So exciting, like meeting a cute boy for the first time. You know, my whole life is on the Blackberry or BB for short. This BB Bold is my current flavour of the month and i'm gonna tell you three things why this BB will be my only love from tomorrow onwards.

1) The screen that screams S.m.a.s.h.i.n.g.!! It has been mentioned many times the screen resolution is wayyyy better than the 3G iPhone. Pictures looked so much alive on a BB Bold due to its rich and stunning pixel density. I dunno what it means but i love it already. Sexy...

2) Having Wi-Fi is the next best thing in BB Bold: I like surfing the net on my BB when i'm on-the-go. I have many sites bookmarked on my current BB 8707G, like Google, Golden Village, Gmail. If you notice, they all start with the letter 'G' and that's why i'm called 'G' in the office! But surfing the net on GPRS is definitely not the same as on Wi-Fi so i can't wait to try it out tomorrow. It is also the first BB to support HSDPA. D.a.s.h.i.n.g.

3) Watching video on BB Bold is s.t.u.p.e.f.y.i.n.g!

Well anyway, if you are not into Blackberry, it's pretty useless telling you so much about it. You won't get 'ecstatic' the same way i do. Just like how Fomula One is to me.

Nites.

PS: Actually, 'G' is short for anGie :)

New Look?

Tuesday, 16 September 2008

Sorry, didn't mean to lock my blog but i was playing around with the template and html and didn't wanna have visitors while i was 'dressing' up.

I dislike html, javascript, css and what have you. I just can't figure them out and it's driving me nuts. Can someone design a web building tool for dimwit like me and a simple to use shopping cart?? Argghh.

What have i been doing lately? I am sort of hook on My Lovely Samsoon. Yeah, i'm a bit slow when it comes to Korean drama and you guys would have probably watched and rewatched it ten times. I bought the dvds on some cheap sale, if it weren't for the sale, i won't have bought it. Coz for me to watch any Korean drama, i need both the male and female leads to be very good-looking. Yes, i'm that shallow when it comes to Korean drama. For, why would i waste my time watching some wishy washy, draggy 20++ episodes drama without some enticement? At least with looking at beautiful people on the screen (plastik-ed or not), i can rest my brain too. So that's not entirely wasting any time, isn't it? No?

Oh.. btw when the time is right, i will show you my online shop. Again i'm like ten years too late to jump on this bandwagon. But it's fun trying to earn a dollar or two this way. Yoohoo, i'm pretty excited about it. Maybe i can earn enough to go do some legs extension!! :)

Keep The Sun

Wednesday, 10 September 2008

Another old favorite song - เก็บตะวัน (Kep Ta Wan), which literally means the title of this entry.

I found the English translation here:

Collect the sun that once has shined in the sky
Collect and place it in my heart
Collect the energy, collect the ray of greatness
Collect and combine to become one
Collect the time that once has passed
All the disappoints shouldn’t matter now
One person, one life to live…so short
Hurt and disappointment will not kill me

*Normally when the sky is dark and cloudy
The storm and cloud above the sky
Wouldn’t be long before the sun will shine once again
The ray of sunshine that made the sky beautiful
As long as the sun stays side by side with the sky
Why should I be discouraged?
When there’s tomorrow for me to start over
Be strong, and stable like the sun

Sunrise and sunset. Isn't it on a loop mode, going thru the same motions day after day? The sun will set at some point of the day, but it will always rise again the next. Even if it rains, it will stop and if you look hard enough, you will see the rainbow. Keep that in mind peeps. I will keep the sun shining in my life always and so must all of you.

*My sister is better and is on her way to recovery. Her report is out and although the rotten evil cancer cells have been removed, we would have to wait for one more report to be out next week to determine the treatment she needs.

Thank you to all once again!!!

Remember to keep the sun na.

How Heavy Is Your Heart?

Saturday, 6 September 2008

Mine was overweight, and it was a struggle carrying it around but it's a lot better now.

The phone call came on Thursday nite when i was about to leave my office. The news stunned me for a long time and i just sat there, unable to believe a word. My heart skipped a few beats and then it seemed to have stopped for a few seconds, as though the javelin from the hand of Andreas Thorkildson pierced right through my heart. I was choked with tears, i couldn't speak. I wish it was me that has this rotten evil illness but when i looked at Shane's smiling faces and beautiful drawings in front of me, i knew i couldn't afford to pick up this tab too. Life is full of such heartbreaking dilemmas, isn't it?

All i could think of that moment was to send a text message to Fen, asking her to pray for my sister. I couldn't talk to anyone, the tears were still choking me. I called a cab and cried all the way home. I was devastated. I didn't have dinner that nite and if i could starve myself just to get her recovered, i will. I told Becks the next day that i'm willing to be his slave for life, or for my ten lives or more if he can take the cancer away from her. I told Karen and Aud that i would kiss a certain disgusting worm and be nicer to him just so my sister will get better.

I made those who care for me at work worried when i kept my room door shut the whole of Friday morning. Aud caught me crying in my room. Subsequently, Champion went asking Aud what was wrong with me and whether did anyone give me trouble at work, for if that was the case, let him know. Talked about 'He-Man', that was what Aud called him that day and that was the reason why i put in 110% for Champ coz he cares for me, like a surrogate father at work :)

I am blessed to have Champ looking after me but i fight my own battle at work. However, when it was the work of God, there was little i can do. The fear of losing my sister was very real that Thursday nite. I lost a loved one before and i'm not willing to lose another. When mom passed away on Mother's Day many years ago, my sister took over the role of looking after me and my younger bro. She was the one who volunteered to work in Dad's company while the rest of us pursued whatever we wanted freely.

Fen told me to read Matthew 7.7-11 "Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. Everyone who asks receives; everyone who searches finds; everyone who knocks will have the door opened; is there anyone among you who would hand his son a stone when he asked for bread? Or would hand him a snake when he asked for a fish? If you, then, evil as you are, know how to give your children what is good, how much more will your Father in Heaven give good things to those who ask Him".

I have been saying my prayers faithfully now and i ended all my prayers with the above. And i know God will listen to me once again and shower my sister with His blessings.

This past one week, i spent it with her, taking care of her. I left my work to my boss in Sydney, another great lady who gave me the whole week off instead of deducting them from my annual leaves but of course with Champion's approval. I'm returning to Singapore tomorrow but i know going forward, i will make sure to spend more time with my family. And if you are like me, spending hours in the office after the official closing time, take a pause. Have you neglected your family? Is there really no way to strike a balance between work and family? I don't have an answer for you yet but right now, work will take the back seat. Family should always come first. I have learnt this lesson and i'm glad it's still not too late.

Lastly, thank you everyone for your kind emails and messages. I am very touched by all your concern. I apologize for not explaining myself properly and to have made you worry. I'm fine now :)

Btw Bumbum, i recalled your nick from my moblog days, are you the same one? Akai dear, thanks for your email, i have not forgotten about you at all, your email came as a surprise tho but it was comforting. Sunkist, thanks for telling me that and therefore i am confident my sister will get well. Mike and Tony, sometimes i wonder, are you both brothers for you two seemed to be able to read my mind and emailed me the same things :D? Janice, Siew Ping and Ruby, thank you for your messages, everything is alright for the moment. And Shufang, i have replied you :). Snowie, thanks for telling me about the program. It will no doubt be a tough fight, but fight we will.

For those who send me messages on Facebook, thank you, i will reply soon.
